Woyaya – We Will Get There!

In the years after my husband left me, I had to stop listening to music popular in the years we were married.  The memories were just too painful.

Instead, I went back to music from before I met him.  Those songs held no negative memories, and helped me find ‘me’ again… if you know what I mean.

One of my favourite albums from my late teenage years was Art Garfunkel’s Angel Clare.  There’s just something so… ethereal about his voice, isn’t there.

I was listening to it again yesterday, and one song, Woyaya, really struck home. I loved it then, and I love it now.

Woyaya means, We will get there.  On this post-divorce journey that we are on, ‘The road may be muddy and rough, but we will get there’.

Oh yes, we will!

Here’s a link to Youtube where you can hear Art Garfunkel’s beautiful rendition of the song.

And here are the lyrics, so you can sing along.

Woyaya

We are going, heaven knows where we are going,

We’ll know we’re there.

We will get there, heaven knows how we will get there,

We know we will.

It will be hard we know,

And the road will be muddy and rough,

But we’ll get there, heaven knows how we will get there.

We know we will.

We are going, heaven knows where we are going,

We’ll know we’re there.
